The Group is currently in the process of completing the acquisition of IT Engineering, which provides specialist electrical engineering services to open-cut and underground coal mines. Headquartered in North Queensland, the business brings new skills to the Group in the form of electrical engineering, training and component overhaul capabilities. The Company intends to leverage these skills across the entire Group, including Diversified Construction Corporation’s activities in the oil and gas industry.
Walter Mining owns the largest contractor-owned continuous miner fleet in Australia. The size of the business’ current fleet of equipment provides WDS with an advantage over its competitors by allowing the Group to provide its entire range of services at a number of different mine sites and locations simultaneously. In addition, WDS’ equipment represents a competitive advantage in an industry where widespread shortage of machinery and specialist equipment poses a significant barrier to entry.
